Psychosis is a 26 page psychological horror comic about a therapist named Graham finding himself contracting his patient Amara’s night terrors about her past trauma. This comic delves into the harrowing landscape of unresolved trauma, persuasive paranoia, and the insidious grip on alcoholism. Through the medium of sequential art I’m confronting these often taboo subjects with unflinching honesty.

This comic delves into the visual exploration of the profound internal chaos that arises from deeply personal and often isolating experiences. To cultivate empathy and understanding, I ground the protagonist in the familiar realm of domesticity, portraying him in ordinary clothing and everyday settings. My artistic process, beginning with traditional inking to imbue each line with raw, unfiltered emotion and culminating in digital coloring, allows for a direct translation of these complex feelings onto the page. Drawing significant inspiration from the unsettling atmosphere, symbolic monstrous figures, and the protagonist's descent into a nightmarish psychological landscape as seen in Silent Hill 2, I’ve constructed a narrative that effectively mirrors the disorienting and unsettling nature of paranoia. This serves as a visual metaphor, to illustrate the fact that as we grow we’ll always have our trauma with us.

My work is not merely depicticing angst, but to foster a dialogue about the complexities of mental health and the human capacity for resilience. By visually articulating the intangible, I hope to provide the readers with a chance to confront their own experiences, or to step into the shoes of another, fostering a sense of shared humanity. Ultimately, this comic is an invitation to acknowledge and confront the darkness that can reside within us, and to recognize the importance of open and honest conversations about mental well-being.
